PALCLAD PRO HYG is an antimicrobial, rigid thermoplastic sheet that can be easily thermoformed or used as a laminate over Palram’s PALIGHT® cellular polymer sheets or wood substrates like MDF, particle board, or plywood. Silver-ion technology protects the product against the growth of microbes such as bacteria, mold and mildew that cause stains and odors. It does so by disrupting the ability of these microorganisms to reproduce. PALCLAD PRO HYG is Clean Air GOLD certified and conforms to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method V1.2: Private Office and School Classroom. It also conforms to LEED and WELL for low-emitting products. PALCLAD PRO HYG is manufactured using bio-based plasticizers unlike other competitive products using phthalate plasticizers which have been banned by various organizations around the world. PALCLAD PRO HYG is in compliance with REACH and RoHS requirements using no heavy metals or phthalates in its composition.

PALCLAD PRO HYG complies with the most demanding international fire resistance standards in the field of plastics, as indicated in the detailed table below. The classification is subject to product type, thickness and color

1. Microbes that cause odor, staining and material degradation contaminate an HYG protected product.
2. Silver ions act against these microbes in three ways:
 A. They promote the formation of reactive oxygen species which irreversibly damages microbial cells.
 B. They stop microbes reproduction by interfering with their DNA replication and regeneration.
 C. They are able to combine with microbial proteins: this will cause disruption in energy production and other essential functions that otherwise would keep microbes alive.
3. Odor, staining and material degradation causing microbes are reduced for the treated product.
4. Through a combination of actions, Palram’s HYG antimicrobial technology irreversibly damage microbial cells on the surface, causing a reduction in microbes for the product.
